Elon Musk, the world's wealthiest individual, recently voiced his support for India to secure a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council.

“India not having a permanent seat on the Security Council, despite being the most populous country on Earth, is absurd,” Tesla chief said in an X post.

Elon Musk added, “Problem is that those with excess power don’t want to give it up". His comments came in response to UN Secretary-General António Guterres advocating for reforms, specifically questioning Africa's lack of permanent membership.

The Tesla chief suggested that the United Nations needs a significant overhaul and expressed support for Africa collectively having a permanent seat. Musk's remarks align with Guterres' call for global governance reforms, coinciding with the upcoming Summit of the Future scheduled for September 22-23.

Currently, UN permanent membership is vested with 5 countries- UK, USA, France, China and Russia who have the veto power over any substantial resolution.
